The week in numbers
Chikara Intelligence recorded 267 executive moves in the seven days to 11 October, across 153 organisations. 242 of them, or 90.6 per cent, were at C-suite, board or partner level. Arrivals outnumbered exits 204 to 63, counting appointments, hires and promotions on one side and departures and retirements on the other.
94 of the 267 were on the record on or before the day they took effect. 38 were recorded before the move happened and 56 on the day itself. 145 arrived after the fact, and the rest carry no effective date at all. The furthest forward-dated record sits 204 days ahead of the day it takes effect.
Board slates were taken out before anything was counted. 32 rows at five companies listed directors for election at an annual meeting rather than seats changing hands. 18 of the 267 took effect more than 30 days before this entry, so they count toward the total but are left out of the hot spots below.
Every interim appointment was a finance seat
Seven interim appointments were recorded in the window, and all seven were interim chief financial officers. 48 of the week's records involved a finance seat.
Two of the seven covered an exit at the same company in the same week. Curtiss-Wright announced on 6 October that its finance chief will retire at the end of the year, named an interim CFO with effect from the same day and began a search for a permanent successor. At Phoenix Education Partners the CFO and treasurer left with effect from 10 October, and a senior vice president who had run corporate development since April took the interim CFO role on the same date. Ocean Power Technologies' interim CFO took over on 30 September while its board looks for a permanent one.
Other finance seats changed hands without an interim. At MJ Gleeson the CFO steps down on 16 October and the successor joins the board on 19 October. Ofa Group's CFO resigned with effect from 30 September and the new one started the next day. Quantum Corporation replaced its principal financial officer on 9 October, with the successor in place the same day.
A couple of top seats have a long runway. Sig promoted its next chief executive with effect from 1 May 2027. Oxford Metrics named a chief executive who joins on 1 December.
Hot spots
Counting distinct companies rather than rows, leaving out blank-cheque vehicles and funds, and setting aside the 18 late records, Texas led with 17 companies. California had 16, New York 15, New Jersey 7 and Illinois 6. Eight companies carried a UK location. The rest of the located records were in the US.
Same-company, same-day blocks were collapsed before ranking, and a change recorded twice was counted once. On that basis one company recorded senior changes on two different days. The Children's Place added a director in a record dated 8 October and another director in a record dated 9 October.
Move records carry no industry field, so this entry makes no claim about which sectors were busiest.
What this count is
Counts of recorded events in a seven-day window, not a market census. The record keeps filling in behind each week, so this figure is not set beside any earlier week's.
