Published 19 October 2026 · Chikara Intelligence · 3 min readInterim & unplanned exits
Chikara Intelligence recorded 415 executive moves in the week to 18 October, across 185 organisations. Five were interim appointments. The clearest case was Kingfisher, which put an interim chief executive in place and named a permanent one on the same day it recorded a board exit.

The week in numbers
Chikara Intelligence recorded 415 executive moves in the seven days to 18 October, across 185 organisations. 357 of them, or 86.0 per cent, were at C-suite, board or partner level. Arrivals outnumbered exits 313 to 102, counting appointments, hires and promotions on one side and departures and retirements on the other.
146 of the 415 were on the record on or before the day they took effect. 64 were recorded before the move happened and 82 on the day itself. 151 arrived after the fact, and the rest carry no effective date at all. The furthest forward-dated record sits 166 days ahead of the day it takes effect. It is Ithaca Energy's chief executive, who retires on 31 March 2027.
Board slates were taken out before anything was counted. 45 rows at ten companies listed directors for election at an annual meeting rather than seats changing hands. 14 of the 415 took effect more than 30 days before this entry, so they count toward the total but are left out of the hot spots below.
Kingfisher named an interim and its next chief executive in one day
Five interim appointments were recorded in the window, and eight records carried an interim or acting title once promotions and exits are included. Two of the five were at companies that also recorded an exit in the same week.
The clearest was Kingfisher. On 13 October Chikara Intelligence recorded three changes there. A board exit taking effect on 31 December, an interim chief executive, and a new chief executive who starts on 1 February 2027 and joins the board the same day. All three were on the record before the end of that Tuesday.
Cover doesn't always carry the word interim in the title. At GBank Financial Holdings the principal financial officer resigned on 12 October with effect from the next day. The board designated the bank's chief executive as interim principal financial officer and its controller as interim principal accounting officer, both from 13 October.
Emergent BioSolutions gave itself a longer runway. Its finance chief retires on 31 December, an executive promoted to interim CFO takes over on 1 January, and the outgoing CFO stays on as an adviser until the end of March.
22 organisations recorded an exit and an arrival under the same title. Read one by one, several of those are a role restated or a director standing down at an annual meeting, so the companies named here are ones where the record shows a real handover. Lazard's principal accounting officer leaves on 11 December, and the successor was on the record the same day as the resignation. Synaptics replaced its principal accounting officer from 28 October. Dauch hired its next CFO into a finance role from 2 November, ahead of taking the seat on 1 December, with the current CFO moving to chief administrative officer. Hamilton Lane swapped seats on 12 October, when its chairman became co-chief executive and one of its co-chief executives became executive co-chair.
Hot spots
Counting distinct companies rather than rows, leaving out blank-cheque vehicles and funds, and setting aside the 14 late records, California led with 24 companies. Massachusetts had 11, Florida 9, and New Jersey and New York 8 each. Five companies carried a UK location, and 34 had no address on the record. The rest of the located records were in the US.
Same-company, same-day blocks were collapsed before ranking. Five companies then showed senior records on two different days. On reading, each was one change recorded twice, two board seats that took effect on the same day, or directors named for an annual meeting. No company recorded a genuine senior change on two different days this week.
Move records carry no industry field, so this entry makes no claim about which sectors were busiest.
What this count is
Counts of recorded events in a seven-day window, not a market census. The record keeps filling in behind each week, so this figure is not set beside any earlier week's.
