Published 5 October 2026 · Chikara Intelligence · 3 min readInterim & unplanned exits
Chikara Intelligence recorded 359 executive moves in the week to 4 October, across 168 organisations. Seven were interim appointments, and three of those covered an exit at the same company in the same week. In three of the seven, one person now holds the chief executive's seat and the finance seat together.

The week in numbers
Chikara Intelligence recorded 359 executive moves in the seven days to 4 October, across 168 organisations. 351 of them, or 97.8 per cent, were at C-suite, board or partner level. Arrivals outnumbered exits 274 to 85, counting appointments, hires and promotions on one side and departures and retirements on the other.
134 of the 359 were on the record on or before the day they took effect. 62 were recorded before the move happened and 72 on the day itself. 158 arrived after the fact, and the rest carry no effective date at all. The furthest forward-dated record sits 183 days ahead of the day it takes effect.
Two kinds of record were taken out before anything was counted. 65 rows at 14 companies were board slates, directors listed for election at an annual meeting rather than seats changing hands. Six more were records whose own summary says no move took place.
Interim cover arrived in the same week as the exit
Seven interim appointments were recorded in the window. Three of them covered an exit at the same company in the same week.
At MongoDB the chief executive left on 28 September and an interim chief executive was named the same day. At Gain Therapeutics the finance chief's resignation took effect on 30 September, and the chief executive took the interim CFO role from 1 October while keeping the top job. The company is searching for a permanent finance chief. At La Rosa Holdings the chief executive, who also held the interim finance seat, stepped down on 1 October and the incoming chief executive took both.
That is the sharper pattern in the interim group. Three of the seven left one person holding the chief executive's seat and the finance seat at the same time. Gain Therapeutics and La Rosa Holdings are two of them. At ReWalk Robotics the interim chief executive named on 1 October also took the interim principal financial officer role. Outside the interim group, Professional Diversity Network's CFO became chief executive on 2 October and kept the finance role.
Finance seats moved elsewhere too. Carlsmed's CFO left on 25 September and a successor started on 28 September. Cars.com named a CFO-designate to start on 19 October, before its current CFO leaves on 6 November. Atlantica's CFO resigned with immediate effect, and the record names no successor. Society Pass recorded the resignation of both its chief executive and its CFO, effective 30 September.
A few seats have a long runway. Northern Trust's CFO plans to retire on 31 March 2027, and the company is running a search for the next one. The Hartford's chief executive hands over on 1 March 2027 with the successor already named. First Merchants promoted from inside for a chief executive retiring on 1 January 2027.
Hot spots
Counting distinct companies rather than rows, and leaving out blank-cheque vehicles and funds, California led with 25 companies. Texas had 12, Florida and New York had 10 each, and Illinois had 8. Five companies carried a UK location. The rest of the located records were in the US.
Same-company, same-day blocks were collapsed before ranking, and a change recorded twice was counted once. On that basis two companies recorded senior changes on two different days. La Rosa Holdings swapped a board seat, recorded on 29 September, then changed its chief executive on 1 October. Virtuix Holdings replaced a director, recorded on 28 September, and appointed a CFO, recorded on 30 September.
Move records carry no industry field, so this entry makes no claim about which sectors were busiest.
What this count is
Counts of recorded events in a seven-day window, not a market census. The record keeps filling in behind each week, so this figure is not set beside any earlier week's.
